Nepenthes northiana lives as a lithophyte, inhabiting limestone rock walls near Bau on the island of Borneo. It’s often regarded as the most beautiful Nepenthes in the genus. But it’s reputation as a difficult grower is not far fetched either. Though this can be overcome by giving the plant consistent warm temperatures with high humidity. We’ve tested growing our plants under a variety of soils (mineral, coconut, sphaghnum based) and most seemed equivalent as long as you make sure there is good drainage so the roots are aerated. Though it’s a warm grower, it does not appreciate wet feet. Nepenthes northiana is particularly prone to transplant disturbance so make sure to keep them very humid as they acclimate.
Plant foliage may appear light green when young. If this persists, lower the light level. All plants for sale will be sent potted to minimize root disturbance.
